Continued Support for Our Community
Clackamas has partnered with Clackamas Service Center to distribute fresh produce and other groceries to families in need through both deliveries and pickup stations. On Monday, June 15th, six volunteers from Clackamas joined staff from Clackamas Service Center to distribute food boxes in the Oak Grove community. More than 20 Clackamas staff members will continue volunteering throughout the summer to deliver food boxes twice per week and at pickup stations twice per month. The pickup dates and locations will be posted on our Facebook page each month. Aaron Goff, our CEO, is thankful for the community mindedness and generous spirits of our employees. “We asked employees to help out with this effort and almost immediately had more than 20 volunteers ready to pitch in. I’m inspired again by the commitment of the Clackamas Team to improve lives.”
The need for help with financial health in Clackamas County continues to grow as well. Instead of pausing financial education during the public health crisis, we quickly embraced online learning and have already taught nine financial education classes since pivoting to virtual workshops in April 2020. Along with member workshops, we are working with local nonprofits to provide education to employees and other groups, gearing curriculum to deal with the crisis at hand. Topics covered range from “budgeting in an emergency“ to “how to access local resources and avoid current scams“.
We have also renewed our annual $5,000 donation to our longtime partner Financial Beginnings, a nonprofit that teaches individuals how to play an active role in their own financial well-being. Kate Benedict, Executive Director of Financial Beginnings Oregon is grateful. “Financial Beginnings Oregon could not be more proud to partner with Clackamas Federal Credit Union to bring free financial education to Clackamas County residents. In fact, Clackamas Federal Credit Union financial education volunteers accounted for over 35% of our financial education impact in Clackamas County last year! Their financial support will allow us to bring even more meaningful, free financial education to Clackamas. As financial education partners, we are always grateful and inspired by their commitment to the Clackamas community.”
