Community Impact at Clackamas
Our commitment to our community is deep-rooted – making a difference in people’s lives is what credit unions are all about. At Clackamas, spending time giving back to our community is what we love to do. What does that look like over the course of a year?
Check out what we accomplished in 2018:
» 82 total hours spent teaching financial literacy to more than 3,600 students
This includes the work we do with our partner, Financial Beginnings, to teach the basics of banking, budgeting, credit, investing, and paying for higher education to students in schools throughout the county.
This number also includes financial workshops we do for members and adult learners in the community at places like the Clackamas County offices, Canby Center, and Northwest Housing Alternatives. Topics for these range from budgeting, to financial planning basics, to identity theft protection.
» 273 hours volunteered in our community
This number is all about people helping people. It’s the hours our employee volunteers spend helping to make a difference in our community. What does that look like at Clackamas? We have been involved with a number of fun events this year to help raise money and awareness – such as plunging into the freezing Columbia River in February for Special Olympics, shaving our heads for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, cooking and cleaning at the Clackamas Service Center, and rolling up our sleeves and cleaning up the banks of the Clackamas River with SOLVE.
» $40,215 dollars raised for local non-profits
Part of our commitment to our community includes monetary donations to community organizations, a few of these include Financial Beginnings, Friends of the Milwaukie Center, Mt. Hood Search and Rescue, Clackamas Service Center, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Special Olympics, and the Oak Grove Boys and Girls Club.
» 40% of our employees volunteered
We have a pretty awesome staff, almost half of who volunteered at one or more charities in the community this past year.
In the new year, you may notice a small, but exciting change to our website homepage – our Community Impact module! This addition helps us share the good work we do for our community; we’ll keep it updated throughout the year as we work to improve lives in Clackamas County!
