A Message from the CEO and Board Chair

Exciting news for membership eligibility

Since 1957, we have served Clackamas County with the mission of helping our members meet their financial goals. We started in the county courthouse with a volunteer-run office; since then we have grown to serve over 35,000 members in six counties. Through it all, we have kept our focus on that original mission.

Last month, we shared the exciting news that we will be adopting a new name to better reflect our mission and growing membership.

Today, we are excited to announce our new name and give you more information about what’s ahead. On February 1st, we will open our doors as:

Embold Logo Primary

Embold is a name full of potential and energy – a name that reflects our longstanding passion for helping our members reach their financial goals. The logo reflects our deep roots in the community creating a strong foundation. And while it is rooted, it is also optimistic and actively reaching for the future, just like we are. Though our name is changing, we remain deeply committed to each of our members.

As Embold Credit Union, we will continue to learn and grow, providing the financial services that our members need and the respect and care that they deserve. We are honored to serve our current members and look forward to welcoming more members from the communities we love and serve. Our new name is crucial in this effort by eliminating confusion and expanding access to communities in our charter counties.

Our new name is only the beginning of our transformation. You’ll soon see exciting changes in our branches, digital banking, and even the debit and credit cards in your wallet – all designed to better serve you today and into the future. We’ve detailed many of those changes in the Q&A section below. If we can answer any other questions, please reach out at help@clackamasfcu.org.

On behalf of our staff and volunteer Board of Directors, we appreciate your loyalty and look forward to serving you as Embold Credit Union for years to come.

Helpful information about this change:

Q: Why Embold Credit Union?
A: The name Embold Credit Union will help us welcome even more of our Oregon neighbors into the many benefits of a member-owned financial institution. It’s a name that helps us tell our story about empowering each one of our members, about taking bold steps to create a better future, and about growth and forward motion.

Q: When will the name change take effect?
A: On February 1st, Clackamas Federal Credit Union will officially switch names to Embold Credit Union. Changes in our branches may take a few additional weeks following that date.

Q: What will change with the new name?
A: You will see our new name and logo updated on exterior branch signage, new brochures, an updated website, and other branded communications. But our goal with these changes is to go beyond replacing our old name and logo. We are working overall to improve our members’ experiences with the credit union through branch enhancements, improved technology, and many other initiatives. We look forward to sharing more exciting news with you ahead.

Q: Is the name change a result of a merger or acquisition?
A: No. The name change is not the result of a merger or acquisition of any kind. We proudly remain a member-owned cooperative.

Q: Will the ownership of the credit union remain the same?
A: Yes. We are still your member-owned credit union. Our not-for-profit structure and mission of member service remain exactly the same. Our same volunteer board of directors, leadership and staff are eager to serve your financial needs.

Q: Why are you changing the name of the credit union?
A: Our name is part of our long-range plan to continue building a growing and thriving financial cooperative that is inclusive of every member and market we serve – for generations to come.

Q: Who will be eligible to join the credit union?
A: Our current charter encompasses anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Clackamas, Marion, Washington, Yamhill, Polk, and Multnomah counties, as well as their immediate family members.

Q: Will this name change be expensive?
A: Our Board and Management have built a solid financial institution by making prudent and strategic business decisions that ensure our growth and financial health. This investment in our long-range vision has been carefully considered and approved by our highly engaged, and member selected, volunteer Board of Directors.

Q: How will fees, loan rates and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?
A: Rates and fees will not be negatively affected by the name change. We will continue to monitor our rates and fees like we always have. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to the market conditions.

Q: Will my deposits remain insured by NCUA?
A: Yes. Deposit accounts for each share owner remain federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund.

Q: Will the routing number change?

Q: Will my credit card still work?
A: Yes, your current card will continue to work until its expiration date. Your account numbers and member numbers will also not change. We are excited to be issuing credit cards with the Embold Credit Union logo ahead, and you will receive separate communications specifically about your card when this change happens.

Q: Will my debit card/ATM card and PIN number still work?

A: No, everything will stay the same. Our routing number and transit number will not change and your account number will not change, therefore, there are no additional steps or changes you need to make.

Q: Do I need to get my legal documents (e.g. liens, titles, insurance) updated with the new name?
